Below is how you change a logo in VDECk.  It gives you 2 options.  1-through an FTP Manager.  2-Through VDECK.  I tried this on my personal site before I posted it and it worked.

IN VDECK
--------
Log into vDeck
Click the 'Preferences' link in the far upper right
Click the checkbox next to 'Show System Files'
Click the 'update' button at the bottom
Go to Host Manager -> File Manager
Click on the '.panel' folder, then choose the 'web' folder.
Within you should see all the folders for the various power plugins like bulletin, portal, gallery, chat, etc.

IN FTP
--------
Login to the server
Find the 'Change Directory' or 'ChDir' option/button in your FTP software
At the prompt, type in '/.panel/'
choose the 'web' folder
Within you should see all the folders for the various power plugins like bulletin, portal, gallery, chat, etc.

This will allow you to access all the X7 Chat files.  If you need to apply a bug fix or mod you should also use these instructions.  For info on the logo image please see this FAQ: http://forum.x7chat.com/index.php?showtopic=888 (http://forum.x7chat.com/index.php?showtopic=88Cool

Thank you Sean!

Thank you!!!     I was becoming fairly discouraged trying to find the folders to play with the chat and billboard.   I knew it was something simple that if I just looked hard enough I'd find, go figure.    Thanks again!  You just made my life a WHOLE lot easier!

This applies to changing the x7chat logo.

I signed into vdeck, then went to Host Manager, then File manager, then clicked the blue lettering in the 1st paragraph that said see a complete overview.  I followed the blue line from home to Public_html, then X7Chat, then images.

Under images you see chatlogo.gif, using the action key I renamed it chatlogo1.gif (in case I messed up I could remove the 1 and all would be normal), I went down to the bottom where it says upload single file and Browsed until I found the logo on my computer I wanted then hit the upload button.

My logo was named AHlogoword.gif, using the action button by it I renamed it chatlogo.gif  and ....... when you went into x7Chat it was my logo there instead of the default one.

In DreamweaverMX, go to the remote view of your site and locate the X7Chat folder.  Download it.  (the whole folder) Inside the folder is a sub-folder named images. Open that images folder and notice the file called chatlogo.gif.  To conform to the same dimensions, open that file with Photoshop (or whatever you use to create graphics) and create another image with the same name- same size, etc and save as chatlogo.gif. Replace the existing file and upload it from Dreamweaver.  That's it.... refresh- your logo is now there without the need for a therapist. Smiley

Chatlogo.gif location on ipowerweb running FrontPage extensions??? The answer is here!!!!!

For most hosting company using vDeck(except iPowerweb/others??? with FrontPage extension installed):

Logon on to Vdeck and open Host Manager = /home /.Panel/web/x7chat/images/chatlogo.gif

For iPowerweb/other(Huh) with FrontPage extension install (only???)

Logon to FrontPage and click on the Navigation button (so "Folder List" is displayed), scroll down until you find the x7Chat folder. Open the Folder and locate the chatlogo.gif file and rename it (it should be toward the top of the list). Rename your logo file to chatlogo.gif (case sensitive including file extension .gif !!!) and load it (cut and paste) into the /x7Chat folder. That it! It should now display your logo. Be sure to Refresh your browser page and you may need to give the file some time to post.[/b]

I did all the stuff that was suggested on  this phpbb support, but I had problems.  angry  I try going through vDeck and had a slight variance in the path, mine path was (Host Manager) /home /.Panel/web/x7chat/images/ and I found no chatlogo.gif file (correct character casing). I also check the /smiley folder in the /images folder and no chatlogo.gif file (Though I didn’t expect too). I headed back (up) /home and stop and looked in each folder without any luck, not that I thought it would really be outside the /x7chat folder. I decided I would go look on the site under FrontPage and sure enough there was a newly install /x7chat folder on the tree. cheesy  Eureka!  cheesy I open it and found a /images file folder and there it was!!! A sweet little file called chatlogo.gif I renamed it (in case it was needed again) and copy my version into its place. I return to my browser (left at myX7Chat room), did a “Refresh” but is had the dreaded little white box with a red X where the picture should be! It didn’t work!  angry  How could it not work??? Maybe the  evil  did it! I had renamed the only chatlogo.gif file on my whole site, yet the page showed the X where the picture should be. I had renamed the correct file. Then the light came on!  rolleyes  And this is the reason I mention the casing of the file name because this is important on my host server. MS Paints, which I used to slam a quick logo file together makes it GIF file with the file extension as caps (to wit: chatlogo.GIF) and that makes a different. This was not the first time I had “case” problems while working on the site. I was well aware of it, but had failed to notice the incorrect file name. iPowerweb had recently moved my site from a cPanel server to a vDeck and I thought that vDeck was windows-based (not case sensitive) but now I think it is Linux/RedHat/Apache based and that would explain the case sensitively issue. Any way I know that even to the browser the “case” makes a different for file and graphics to be displayed (404 File Not Found) so it has to be Linux. So this “Post” is for those of you who follow the very good (but not applicable) instructions you find in this thread. I don’t know if this issue is exclusive to using X7Chat (v1.36b) on ipowerweb under FrontPage extensions but I really doubt it. Hope this help someone. Please note: iPowerweb is a great Hosting Service, super fast tech support (often within just a few hours they have the “Fix”!!!). They have all the bells and whistle (vDeck, which I like better then cPanel), unlimited eMail, tons of bandwidth and $7 bucks a month with Domain name hosting (without co-ownership). May God bless you all. Bishop C.N. Goodwin *** Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, International *** http://www.acjc.org

Under Preferences in vDeck, click to show all system files.  Your panel directory should be visable from the File Manager then.
