In a podcast interview done later that year, Gaahl said they got things incorrect (due to translation errors, I think he and/or the makers say) like the school story, and that the shack on top of the mountain was in fact a hunting cabin.

And what i have inferred is, Gaahl clearly stated that he DOESN't WANT TO LEAD, HE DOESN'T WANT TO LEAD, what my point is, then all of a sudden he is inviting them journalist to choose the kind of life he is living.

That's exactly what I feel. I think he just gave up hope of trying to explain himself for what he really is, because these dumbass interviewers were just trying to perpetrate the (mis)conception that he's some sort of evil superlord. So yes, I agree that it's more an expression of disappointment and frustration.
